House Of Blessing, Mozambique
In 2000, God gave Lee Trueblood a vision for starting an orphanage for the children in Africa who's parents have died of AIDS. She pursued that vision and was eventually able to start the House of Blessing in April, 2003, with her first orphan, Danny. Filipe and his family also were there to help. Six months later, in October, she found a house suitable for raising orphans in Beira, Mozambique. She got her next 6 orphans delivered to her in that same month. From there it has grown to 2 houses, 5 staff members, and 42 orphans: 20 girls and 22 boys.
O you afflicted one, tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
Behold I will lay your stones with colorful gems,
And lay your foundations with sapphires.
I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of crystal,
And all your walls of precious stones.
All your children shall be taught of the Lord
And great shall be the peace of your children.
Isaiah 54:11&12
This passage in Isaiah has become a promise to me from the One who sent me to care for His precious gems and jewels in Mozambique.You will find them and their stories in these pages. You will see the process that we are all going through as the Lord restores and builds, creates and refines. I have great joy serving the Lord here, watching as He takes these orphans, covered in what they have been through, cleansed, shaped and molded into the most beautiful things. The process itself is beautiful and I am honored to be involved. You will find in these pages some of that same process in my own life as I am a bit transparent and do open to you not only my joys but also my struggles, which are many. I don't even pretend to have accomplished great things. This is a long journey and these children have many years to come. I am believing that the Lord will accomplish great things though because of His reputation. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything (of worth) as being of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God (2Cor 3:5).
He has been faithful to provide funding and grace to care for 30 orphans in the House of Blessing thus far. I hope you enjoy getting to know them. They are truly unusual and wonderful. These are my hidden riches and treasures.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
and the hidden riches of secret places
